Two Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

The assault resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

These detentions follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault near the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - an event that police said was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
